Description & Program
Upon arrival to Istanbul Port, our guide and the driver will meet and transfer us to the old town via Galata Bridge of Golden Horn estuary. Firstly visit Hagia Sophia from 537 AD; the first large domed building of the world and the religious focal point of the Church for 1000 years. We learn its history from our expert local guide and have a look at its unique decoration from Byzantine and Turkish periods. Then, enjoy a short walk to “Blue Mosque” through a small park. This most popular Turkish mosque from 17th century, owes its fame to the exquisite Iznik Tiles adorning its interior walls. “Hippodrome” is next to here, where ancient Roman Empire’s horse chariots races took place. Here we see an “Egyptian Obelisk” and the “Snake Column” from ancient Greece. A short drive from here brings us to the “Grand Bazaar”. We attend an informative demonstration on world famous Turkish Handicrafts here and then following the introduction we have some free time to browse its 1,200 shops. After the tour transfer back to the harbor.
